Guides

The Guide Programme is for the girls aged 12-17.

It teaches girls vital life skills such as personal decision-making, goal setting and team building in a safe and friendly environment.

It also prepares young women to help others through meaningful community service, such as caring for the elderly and volunteering to help the less privileged.

This branch of SLGGA was established in March 1917 at Girls High School, Kandy, by Ms Jennnie Calverly Green. The first company had 40 girls. The first Girl Guide to enroll was Ms Sylvia Samarasinghe.

Presently there are over 86,000 girls who are actively participating in the movement.
