Asia Pacific Region Governance Workshop.
The Chief Commissioner of SLGGA, Dr. Kushantha Herath, the Deputy Chief Commissioner, Mrs. Nirmalee William, and the International Commissioner, Mrs. Nadeeka Gunasekera, attended the Asia Pacific Region Governance Workshop co-hosted by the Asia Pacific Region WAGGGS and The Bharat Scouts and Guides which took place in New Delhi/NCR, India, from June 10-15, 2024.
The facilitators of the workshop were the WAGGGS staff, the WAGGGS Governance Team, and regional volunteers. The workshop sessions focused on the role of the Board, risk management, Board recruitment and succession planning, the Constitution, and other governing tools that would help the Member Organisations achieve their goals.
The BSG led the colourful opening ceremony in Gurgaon, Haryana. The workshop was made engaging and impactful by the wisdom and passion of the esteemed guests, which included Deepa Malik, whose journey as an athlete and role model continues to inspire millions, Chair, Asia Pacific Region, Wagggs Chempaka Emalin Pahamin, Darshana Shradha Mishti, Shri Amar B. Chettri, and Kumud Mehra. The ceremonial lamp lighting, the scarf and pot presentations, and the electrifying performances by the Northern Railway RCF Group were among the special highlights. The Asia Pacific Region's vitality, colour, and variety could be seen in full during the International Night.
At the conclusion of the workshop, there was a resolve to promote development, leadership, and connections among the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting groups in the Asia Pacific Region.
