The Guides of the Gampaha District held the “Aththammage Kusalatha” event at the National Training Center, Kadawatha. 65 Guides and 25 Commissioners and Guide Leaders took part in this event. A former Teacher and Guide Captain of Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kadawatha was the chief guest at the event. The Deputy Chief Commissioner of SLGGA and other Branch and Sector Commissioners were present at this occasion.
“Aththammage Kusalatha” is an event that brings out the traditional knowledge and skills passed down from one generation to the next. This event celebrates traditional culinary skills.
Through interactive sessions, participants engaged in demonstrations and hands-on activities, learning to prepare authentic dishes and understanding the cultural stories behind them. The programme included cooking sweetmeats, making coconut sambal and wade, weaving cadjans, singing folk songs, and many other traditional events.
This event not only served as a tribute to traditional knowledge but also fostered intergenerational connections and appreciation for heritage cuisine.
