Girl Guides volunteer at building the biodiversity corridor in Endane, Ratnapura
Posted by SLGGA | Created at June 30, 2024 | Updated at June 30, 2024
The Endane Biodiversity Corridor is a three-kilometre-long nature corridor in the Ratnapura District established to connect the fragmented Ihalakanda and Walankanda Forest Reserves belonging to the Sinharaja rainforest area. Connecting these two forest reserves would allow threatened species to migrate and ensure the preservation of biodiversity in the region.
Girl Guides are mindful of the growing climate and biodiversity crisis. Demonstrating their awareness and commitment to make a difference 100 Girl Guides in Ratnapura and Kegalle districts volunteered in this ecological restoration program organized by Dilmah Conservation and helped in planting 100 native saplings grown in the nursery at the project site on June 29 2024.
