The Girl Guide Environmentalists are Taking Action

The Gampaha District Environmentalists Group was initiated on the concept of Ms. Nathasha Liyanage, Biyagama Divisional Commissioner. The Kiridiwela Sangamiththa Balika Vidyalaya successfully finished their first duty by observing nature and collecting empty pens for recycling from their classmates.
Nearly 5,000 pens were handed over to Nulara Ekanayake, the founder of Grow and Glow with Nuli, for recycling. As a reward, the Guides were allowed to tour the pen manufacturer and observe the recycling process.
During the program, Nulara introduced her Kid Environmentalist book and explained how to start the process, as well as about plastics and the sustainable use of plastics. She then collected pens, introduced her 3G concept, gifted a Na tree to plant at school, and donated a few books to the library.
