The President’s Guide Award and the Prime Minister’s Award Ceremony 2022/2023

The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association held the President’s Guide Award and the Prime Minister’s Award Ceremony 2022/2023 on the 31st of July at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. The ceremonies were held in two consecutive sessions.
The President’s Guide Award Ceremony 2022 was held with the patronage of Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. President Wickremesinghe addressing the gathering, stated:
“Education should not be limited to textbooks. Children need new opportunities to advance, and we will invest in those opportunities. We aim to develop the Girl Guides Association in all aspects, increasing its membership from 75,000 to 150,000. The government is committed to providing the necessary support.”
Education Ministry Secretary Mrs. Thilaka Jayasundara was also present at the event.
The President’s Guide and the Prime Minister’s Award 2023 was held with the patronage of Hon. A. Aravindh Kumar, Sri Lanka's State Minister of Education. Addressing the gathering the minister commented that the government is committed to solving the country's economic crisis and protecting children's educational opportunities.
The President’s Guide Award is the highest honour bestowed on Sri Lanka’s outstanding Girl Guides, recognizing their all-around performance, community service, and dedication to the Girl Guide movement.
The Prime Minister's Award is a prestigious recognition given to Rangers who have shown exceptional commitment and leadership.
Present at this event were, past Presidents and vice Presidents of SLGGA, Past Chief Commissioners, Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association’s President Dr. Shanthi Wilson, Chief Commissioner Dr. Kushantha Herath, Deputy Chief Commissioner Mrs. Nirmalee William, Assistant Chief Commissioner Mrs. Nanduni Wickremethunga, Sector commissioners, senior members of the association and parents of the awardees. The Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association Mr Janaprith Fernando was also present at the event.
