On June 8th, more than 200 Little Friends, Guides, leaders, and commissioners from Gampaha District gathered at Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya Kadawatha to celebrate World Environment Day. The program includes raising awareness of Sustainable Development Goals such as climate change, plastic recycling, global warming, and observing and researching ants, as well as quiz competitions, group exercises, and observations.
Gifts were offered as well to the Girls who won the quiz, crossword puzzle, and poster contests.
The event also included the donation of discarded plastic pens for recycling and the planting of trees as a first step toward combating climate change.
This event was organized by the Gampaha District Girl Guides in partnership with the Climate Council of Roads to Rights Organization and Grow and Glow with Nuli.
